Nonprofits and Organization
Nonprofit organizations have an unfortunate reputation for not being that – organized, that is. Perhaps the best measure of a nonprofit is the percentage spent on administration and upkeep: the higher their internal costs, the less efficient they are. (Some efficiencies may be the result of their cause or location – it’s awfully expensive to pay rent in some parts of the world, after all.) Still, there is a strong difference between an inefficient use of resources and a willful misappropriation of them. If you see a nonprofit where the vast majority of expenditures are on administrative costs, you probably don’t want to support them.
If you’re solicited by a charitable cause, you owe it to your own good intent to ask, “How is this being spent?” Hopefully it won’t be being spent by one of these, the worst charities in America.
On a separate note, a number of Boston area stores have started playing Christmas music already. The decorations appeared back in September.
