The voters of the Republic of Malta have voted to allow divorce. With this change, every country in the world except for the Philippines and Vatican City now allows some sort of divorce. Note that this doesn’t stop married couples from cutting the knot – you can get annulments in the Philippines and Vatican City – but it is a sign of the ever-creeping changes in the social view of marriage around the world.
The devil is always in the details, though: Maltese lawmakers now need to write and pass a divorce law.
