Stick Fly has enjoyed an extended and sold-out run at the Huntington. See various coverage below:
Besides being a fabulous play, Stick Fly was one of the examples Lydia used frequently when discussing the revision process during my studies.
2010 is off to a glowing start for my playwriting professor Lydia Diamond. Harriet Jacobs began her 2010 with a bang – see the glowing reviews in:
For kicks, see the original announcement from Steppenwolf for the commission.
Update
This production has legs, and is on the road:
EDGE Boston has a nice feature on my playwriting teacher, Lydia Diamond. Her play Harriet Jacobs is playing ’til 31 January 2010 at the Central Square Theater, and her play Stick Fly is being produced by the Huntington Theatre starting 2/19/2010.
Update (3 March 2010): Stick Fly’s run has been extended to 3/28/2010. It’s uncommon for a regional theatre company to extend a run like this, but Stick Fly has been sold out for its entire run so far. See this glowing review in Broadway World.
Update (14 March 2010): Stick Fly’s extended run sold out as well. Congratulations, Lydia!
Update(16 April 2010): Stick Fly has been nominated for an Eliot Norton award for Best Ensemble.
