On Wednesday, 21 April 2010, the Reduced Spice Opera Company will present the world premiere of Aaron Krerowicz’s music drama Simple Gifts: A Copland Opera. This powerful depiction of the Second Red Scare, based on actual hearing transcripts, sees composer Aaron Copland pitted against Sen. Joseph McCarthy during an anti-Communist witch hunt. Framing this work are two scenes from The Wedding Fiasco, a new comic opera by RSOC Artistic Director Basil Considine.
