My Doppleganger

I’ve never met another Basil, much less someone who shares my last name. There is, in fact, another Basil Considine out there – Dr. Basil Considine, Jr., MD, to be precise. I’m a musician; he’s a leading researcher in radiation oncology and rectal cancer. He is also the reason that I’ve twice been asked by the National Science Foundation (much to my surprise) to review various studies. Sadly, it would be unethical (and a bit deceitful) for me to take them up on their offer at this stage in my career. I do teach at the Boston Medical Center and BU Medical Campus, but my study of medicine is more of the armchair observer.

If you should happen to see this, Dr. Basil, drop me an email – I would be more than happy to point the NSF in the right direction when they next come calling.

Think RSOC is odd? Try Paprika!

Toronto’s Paprika Festival is a free theatre festival specializing in young artist development. Located at Tarragon Theatre, it’s been gracing the Toronto theatre scene since 2002. Read more (under the tagline “Less Spice and More Good Theatre”) at the Summerworks blog.

Allspice is an odd spice, but extraneous spice is bad spice. Therefore, Reduced Spice = good!

If you think that sounds yummy, see the 31st Annual Rhubarb Festival (also in Toronto), hosted by Buddies in Bad Times Theatre.

2010 is off to a glowing start for my playwriting professor Lydia Diamond. Harriet Jacobs began her 2010 with a bang – see the glowing reviews in:

For kicks, see the original announcement from Steppenwolf for the commission.
